My dear Friend and President, DJT,
I just learned a new word. Oleaginous. Do you know that one? Dana Milbank (DTM) used it to describe LOG in today's WP. I guess LOG had lunch at the WH yesterday and afterwards came out with some kind of resolution attacking House Democrats. DTM was critical of LOG's choice to have a news conference while Rep. Elijah Cummings was lying in state. You have to admit he has a point.
Did you join LOG for lunch or was he just talking with JMM? Do those two often hang out together reminiscing about the good old days growing up in SC? I'm sure you'll sing their praises while you're in their state this afternoon talking about prison reform.
As I'm sure you know, most of Columbia, SC is unsettled by your visit to Benedict College. Some think it's great that you're visiting a HBCU and believe that Benedict will benefit from the publicity. Others are disturbed that you're coming just a couple of days after what they consider to be problematic use of the word "lynching." I think they're so disturbed because there are still plenty of folks who carry hate and anger toward the descendants of enslaved people. Folks who have repeatedly desecrated memorials to Emmett Till. So much so that the new memorial that they put up last Saturday in Glendora, MS is bulletproof. I encourage you to apologize for using that word so casually.
Please, no hateful rhetoric today. Bring your best self to the podium, stay on topic and keep it short. I know you can do it. Now is the time.
