My dear Friend and President, DJT,
Thank you for opening the government back up. It was the right thing to do and took courage. Ignore your TV and stay away from your Twitter account for a couple of days so you don't have to see all the crazy reactions, and then you can get back to work. I loved the way that you put an upbeat spin on your decision - calling Americans, "very special people" and federal workers, "incredible patriots." Your positivity was most welcome!
The editors at WSJ had some good advice for you today. They suggested you, "reframe the political debate by seeking a larger deal on border security and immigration" and stop listening to Stephen Miller. I have been telling you that all along. It's nice to know that even the WSJ agrees with me about his toxicity.
Have you been in touch with GA Sen. Johnny Isakson to find out more about his decision to break ranks to vote for the Dem spending bill on Thursday? I hadn't heard of Johnny until he appeared on the list of Bi-partisan folks who voted yes on both of the bills. It looks like he's been trying to find common ground on immigration reform for a long time. You might want to consult with him.
The WSJ suggested that you need to find something that both you and NDP can agree on, like infrastructure spending. Rather than thinking about building a wall, how about rebuilding bridges, dams and roads? Forget about the Public/Private partnerships and just start plowing $$ into projects. That would make everyone happy and you'd both be winners.
Take it easy,
