My Dear Friend & POTUS, DJT,
“We’ll be ready for them, when it’s time!” Those words came from Caleb Love as he contemplated the AZ Wildcats’ next opponent in the NCAA tournament. In his postgame interview, he attributed his phenomenal play to God & his teammates. He was so emphatic about his plan for the Blue Devils, that I went to bed repeating, “We’ll be ready when it’s time.”
Speaking of people named Love, I’m sure you heard that Mia Love, the first Black GOP woman to be elected to Congress, died of brain cancer yesterday. It was fascinating to watch her navigate the politics of her district on the outskirts of Salt Lake City in 2016-2019. While she did not see eye-to-eye with you, I hope you will have the grace to express your appreciation for her ground-breaking accomplishment & to share the nation’s condolences with her family. If you praise her faith in the American Dream & her commitment to “to love this country, warts & all,” some in her district might change their minds about you.
What will you & Gov. Jeff Landry (JML) be remarking about today? Will it have to do with the Dept of Ed. SoW, You & I both know that you can’t really “close” it since it was mandated by Congress. You can limit the resources it gets & reassign various aspects of its work, but it will still be written into the law. I hope it will continue to be a place where families can file civil rights complaints if students are facing discrimination & retaliation & will continue to aid vulnerable populations including students with disabilities, students who live in rural areas & students in the juvenile justice system. I’m sure you want to be supportive of kiddos who are difficult for local districts to serve.
Please consult with JML about his OMV. Their ancient computer system keeps breaking down, so folks are driving around with expired licenses. In order to fix it, he’s trying to keep people from going to the field offices. It’s a cautionary tale, showing how fragile our government systems can be. Please don’t let that happen to our federal agencies such as the Social Security Agency that we all depend on.
Please give Shigeru Ishiba a call & ask him about Japan’s latest statement about their concerns regarding the junta’s election plan for Burma. Perhaps you can add to the chorus of folks alerting Gen. MAL, that he’s not fooling anyone by staging an “election” while Aung Sun Suu Kyi is still in jail.
BYBS,
