My Dear Friend & POTUS, DJT,

                  How are you feeling about being 47? Are things going as planned? Are you following the stock market?

                  In case you are too busy to look, the Dow has already dropped 600 points & it’s only been in action for 1.5 hours. 

My dad would tell you to call off the tariffs. Many soybean growers would, too. China buys half of their crop!

American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF) President Zippy Duvall is worried that rural farm communities are going to feel this the most. He also points out, “over 80% of the United States’ supply of a key fertilizer ingredient, potash, comes from Canada. Tariffs that increase fertilizer prices threaten to deliver another blow to the finances of farm families already grappling with inflation & high supply costs.” American farmers like to work in their fields & they love to talk about how they are feeding the world. They don’t want a government handout.

                  Should I transfer my assets into gold bars to hide under my bed? Today’s price of $2797.81/ounce is close to its all-time high. I am asking because I don’t trust ERM. One of my Dartmouth buddies warns that he could erase our SS#s. Am I being paranoid?

                  How about getting solar? The folks in Burma have to supply their own electricity. Should we be preparing for that eventuality?

                  I remain hopeful that you will change your mind & change course which is informed by Maya Angelou’s line that, “hope and fear cannot occupy the same place. Invite one to stay.”
