My Dear Friend & POTUS, JRB,

I told the 4th graders about these letters yesterday & one wanted to know how to send his own so be ready to hear from some 9-year-olds.

I hope your Zoom remarks to the folks at the NABTU Tradeswomen Build Nations Conference go well. Those folks are what my husband calls, “badasses.” They aren’t afraid to confront people, stand strong & defy stereotypes. Kind of like KDH, but they tend not to wear skirts or make-up. I suggest you call out, Brittoni Calhoun, Operating Engineers Local 513 journeywoman, who has been honored with various awards for mentoring others. Be sure to avoid wife jokes!

I am troubled to see that the IDF carried out a “precise airstrike” to kill Hassan Nasrallah. First, dropping explosives that level 6 apartment buildings, killing 6 & injuring 91, does not sound precise to me! Second, as the Hamas point out, “assassinations will only increase the resistance in Lebanon and Palestine in determination & resolve…  by a (new) generation of leaders who are more valiant, stronger & more determined to continue the confrontation.” Please do not praise this extrajudicial execution.

Bibi’s efforts to eradicate bad guys reminded of my naïve notion in my 1st year of teaching that if the most disruptive student were eliminated from my classroom, we would have peace. After it happened a few times & the level of chaos persisted, I realized it was the system in the room that had to change, not the people in it.

Interestingly, 45 has the same naive mentality that management comes from firing people. I worry that many citizens in this country also have that mentality when they think that all would be well if 45 would go away. George Fox knew better when he said, “you can’t kill the devil with a gun or a sword.”

I’m sure you heard that Japan plans to downgrade diplomatic ties with the junta. As you know Japan is the only G7 nation to not put sanctions on Burma so this could be a step toward major change. We’ll see.

            BYBS,
