My Dear Friend & POTUS, JRB,
Have you heard of the Presidential Prayer Team? I happened upon their website today. They believe prayer can change the world & say they are “a national ministry dedicated to a focused mission of encouraging, inspiring & praying for our president & national & military leaders.” While I do not share many of their core values, I was happy to see this one, “we believe that our adversary is the Devil & his forces, & not people & their plans.”.
Today they request the team pray for, Jose Emilio Esteban, Under Secretary of Agriculture for Food Safety. He got his PhD from UCD so he knows his stuff. Please check in with him about USDA’s position on “downed pigs.” Congress thinks they should be kept out of the food supply. I regret my dad’s not around to give us his opinion on that. He knew everything about marketing hogs.
I hope you have fun in NH & MA today. Why choose Nashua to give remarks about the Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics law? Are there a bunch of vets there who were exposed to burn pits? In any case, giving our citizens the health care they need is always a good idea, whether they are vets or not. Let’s do more of that kind of thing.
Speaking of health care, the inadequacy of the medical system in Burma has exacerbated the trauma of several heat waves this year. The most recent hit the Monywa township where 100 people died in 4 days. It’s in the part of Burma with the giant Budhas & a compound with 9000 Bodhi trees. When things settle down there, I’d love to visit. Right now, they don’t have adequate water or electricity so when the temps hit 113 degrees on Fri & Sat, babies, old & infirm people died.
The heat is not just a problem in Burma. Delhi might hit 117 today so schools are closed. In Houston, many are still without power & the heat index may be 105 this weekend. Please do more about climate change!
BYBS,
