My Dear Friend & POTUS, JRB,
Did you see Nicki Haley on SNL last night? Wasn’t she clever to take advantage of the free publicity? Speaking of which, why are you eschewing CBS’ offer of an interview to be aired during the Superbowl? It’d be the perfect opportunity to brag about your win in 2020.
Speaking of wins, congrats on SC! 150,000 people took the trouble of voting when it was totally unnecessary. Yeah! Those folks are embracing the state motto, “Dum spiro spero ‘While I breathe, I hope.”
We missed you at our worship sharing last night on the occasion of the 3rd anniversary of the coup in Burma. We were joined by a young Rohingya refugee in Bangladesh. He wants an education. Please help him.
I had a revelation this AM that I need to ponder. I’m not sure it’s true, but it’s catchy. I am prone to phrases that are catchy & I need to stop my impulse to repeat them willy nilly & make sure I believe it.
Inspired by the Beatles song about how love is priceless, my thought is: “Money can’t buy you peace.” It occurred to me as I thought about our assumption that if we throw $$ at something, it will fix itself.
The children of Gaza & Burma & Ukraine & everywhere else in the world riddled with conflict need adults who can get along. This involves forgiving those who trespass against us, asking for grace when we have harmed someone & helping our neighbor when they are in need. Buying weapons doesn’t get us into this mindset.
This is the logic being used by a group featured on the front page of the KCS today. Dad’s Against Crime is working on ending the cycle of violence by helping men get therapy, find jobs & expunge their felony records. While this does take $$, it doesn’t work until the men have a change of heart. It begins with letting go of revenge.
That’s what you need to do – especially in Jordan.
Please share your thoughts on my idea that Money can’t buy you peace & stop sending $$ to Bibi thinking it will somehow stop the war.
BYBS,
