My dear Friend & POTUS, JRB,

            I just watched a few of your remarks in Pittsburgh. In Googling your hosts, LiUNA Local 1058, I learned that they represent all kinds of construction workers including people doing asbestos remediation, highway construction, & construction of energy infrastructure. I became a fan when I read that they just committed to providing at minimum 12 weeks of paid maternity leave to their members. That’s fantastic!

            I stopped watching your speech when you started calling into question 45’s “character” &  “decency.” I understand why you might do that, but I’m not sure that’s going to change anyone’s mind. I wish I knew what would change someone’s mind. We both know he’s not the right guy for the job but, as you know, I am opposed to labeling people as “good/bad.”

            Have you talked to Sarah McBride about her approach to dealing with haters? She’s got some magic in that department! As you know, she’s about to be elected as the 1st trans person in Congress & has been dealing with meanness for all of her adult life. She attributes her success to the “power of proximity” & “empathy.”

            While I wasn’t thrilled with your remarks about 45, I was impressed with what you said about Elon Musk & how he worked illegally while on his student visa. While I doubt his fans care, his criminal activity does cast doubt on his integrity. Someone who plans to run the “Department of Government Efficiency” should have a pristine reputation.

            As usual, I ask that you monitor the situation in Burma & bring it to the attention of the American people. The young people there are struggling for freedom. Similar conditions could emerge here. Witnessing the courage & creativity of the rebels may strengthen the resolve of our kids who, I hope, will refuse to succumb to an authoritarian leader.
