My Dear Friend & POTUS, JRB,

            Much ado about nothing? Is that how you are thinking about this “Impeachment Inquiry?” I think it’s the pot calling the kettle black & that the GOP is risking implosion by hypocrisy by chasing “old news.” Your response to ignore the whole thing & do your job is the best course of action. Keep on, keeping on.

            What do you make of Mitt Romney’s announcement? I hope the people of Utah elect someone like him in 2025. We need Republicans with the courage to stand up to the MAGA side of the party. Folks like Megan Rawlins Woods of the Mormon Women for Ethical Government make me optimistic that the people of Utah will vote for another person of conscience. I was encouraged to see her writing that “the government’s quieter accomplishments are evidence of the work of bridge building and compromise. …” & her appreciation for Gov. Cox’s stance that Americans don’t need to disagree less — we need to disagree better.

            Did you read yesterday’s piece in the WP by Naomi Klien where she promotes her new book about her frustration in being mistaken for Naomi Wolf? She noted that “the figure of the doppelgänger has been used for centuries to warn us of shadow versions of our collective selves, of these monstrous possible futures.” She worries about “the fascist clown state that is the ever-present twin of liberal Western democracies, perpetually threatening to engulf us in its fires of selective belonging & ferocious despising.” Whoa!

            Please consider adding your name to the joint statement by Emmanuel Macron & Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to intervene, along with other partners, in the Gambia vs. Myanmar case before the International Court of Justice, in support of the international efforts to ensure justice and accountability to the Rohingya. Do whatever you can to help the refugees in Cox Bazar.
