Dear Friend & POTUS, JRB,
I loved reading about the Affordable Connectivity Program. The $30-a-month subsidy part to make high-speed internet more affordable for low-income people sounds good to me. It’s too bad that folks like Sen. Ted Cruz (Tex.) & House Energy & Commerce Chairwoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-Wash.) are so worried about fraud that they are standing in the way of it.
Do you think they have a suspicious mindset? Do you think they doubt people’s veracity & trustworthiness? I worry about people like that & whether they developed that perspective because of ample experiences with lies & secrets, both as victims & perpetrators.
I am quite the opposite, having grown up with parents who placed honesty above all else. They told us if they caught us lying, they couldn’t trust us & then we’d have fewer privileges. The only lie they told me was regarding Santa. I was devastated when my mom admitted her deception.
Truth is my happy place. Cognitive demand is low, because you don’t have to try to keep track of the various pieces of your fabrication & whether they fit together.
I’m riffing about this today because the CSM has an article speculating that “truth bombs for Russians may end the war.” Wouldn’t it be wonderful for that war to end?
I’d also love to see truth & trust coming back to the Karen region of Burma where Chinese criminals have run amok. According to the US Institute of Peace, the situation there “represents a growing non-traditional security threat that requires a robust response.” They suggest we “sanction the Border Guard Forces & cut off telecommunications services to all criminal militias.” Please look into it.
BYBS,
