6/2/2023 (2nd letter)
My Dear Friend & POTUS, JRB,
Since it is the 2nd day of the month, I am writing you two letters, a somber one & a regular one. This is the regular one.
Congrats on passing The Fiscal Responsibility Act of 2023 through Congress. All’s well that ends well.
Are you ok? I hope the only thing bruised, after your stumble at the AF commencement yesterday, was your ego. According to the WP the media finds it fascinating when leaders fall, because “it breaks the image of infallibility of powerful figures.” No offense, but I think you have humanized yourself many times before, so I don’t think your image has drastically changed as a result of tripping on the stage.
Good speech by the way. The best part was when you lauded the cadets’ “resilience, creativity, endurance, commitment.” I wish we had more ways to foster such traits while not also teaching youth to kill. Wouldn’t it be great if we could have events like the Pushuppalooza, when almost 3000 AF personnel did simultaneous pushups this April, at other institutions?
Thanks for bringing up AI in your commencement address & the threat it poses to us all when used in military operations. According to FP, “decision-makers could gradually rely on the new AI as part of command & control of weaponry, since it operates at vastly greater speeds than people can.” Since AI does not have a moral compass, it might start a nuclear war before the generals know what’s happening.
Remember WINTA so let’s stop funding weapons development before it’s too late.
BYBS,
