Senseless violence. Financial terrorism. Macho bullshit. I’m tired of it! Excuse the vulgarity.
Male egos cause harm in this world. The shooters in TX this week, the stabber in Davis last week, aggrieved men all over America engage in senseless violence. Now elected officials weaponize the budget to show off how tough they are. It’s getting out of hand!
I need to express my discontent & am grateful that you provide me with a venue for doing so. It would be even better if you would do more to intervene. I also understand being POTUS does not make you God.
I worry about the level of testosterone in the Oval Office when you talk about the debt ceiling today. Now that KOM is SOH, you don’t have NPP to do her magic.
Robert Hockett opines in the NYT that a default on our debt will make the value of the $$ plunge worldwide. Someone quoted in the G called it “economic apocalypse.” You could always choose to ignore Congress & continue to pay the debt since Alexander Hamilton insisted, the fed government needs “a national credit rating beyond cavil or reproach.”
I encourage you to start spewing numbers to help rural Americans understand that the GOP cuts will affect them. Here are a few stats to start with: Moody’s Analytics estimates the House bill would cause 790,000 job losses in 2024. It would lead to the loss of more than 77,000 clean energy jobs across 72 Republican-held districts. Red congressional districts have secured five times more funding for clean energy projects from the Inflation Reduction Act than blue districts. Surely they don’t want that to go away.
Please touch base with the leaders gathered at the ASEAN summit today to express your concern about the attack on a convoy of diplomats & ASEAN humanitarian aid workers in Shan State in Burma. Please amplify Joko Widodo’s message to “stop using force. Stop violence because it's the people who will be victims. This condition will not make anybody win.”
