My dear Friend & POTUS, JRB,
Good Friday? Not the most accurate name for a day when a guy was killed just for sticking to his truth rather than disavowing his beliefs to save his life. Some Germans call it “Sorrowful Friday.” That makes more sense to me.
FYI – Early Quakers tended not to make a bigger deal out of this day as compared to any other day. Since we seek revelation every day, we don’t expect this day to help us find the God within, more than any other day would. So, while I respect the significance this day has for you, for me, it’s one of the 365 glorious days I will treasure this year.
I wish that everyone in the world experienced the privilege of security & freedom that I do.
Today my heart goes out the 3000+ Karen who have had to race across the Moei River into Thailand to escape the junta’s bombing. Please see what we might do to help them.
Thanks for doing what you can to support our transgender youth. Fortunately, the SCOTUS decided to let the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals figure out the suit that Becky Pepper-Jackson filed against WV for discriminating against her by preventing her from being on her middle school’s cross-country team. As Joshua Block of the ACLU tweeted, “There was absolutely no reason to crush the spirit of a 12-year-old child who just wants to run with her friends & be happy. As U.S. District Judge Joseph R. Goodwin wrote “not one child has been or is likely to be harmed by B.P.J.’s continued participation on her middle school’s cross country team.”
If we were less focused on gender, we might not have some of these problems.
