My Dear Friend & POTUS, JRB,
Thanks for calling Ralph Yarl to give him encouragement as he recovers from being shot in the head for knocking on the wrong door. According to Politico you had a long conversation with him. Please also call Kayling Gillis’ family to express condolences from the US public that she was killed just because she was a passenger in a car that went into the wrong driveway.
Do you think shooting a stranger who unwittingly wanders into one’s space should be a felony? We should at least be keeping track of this kind of thing. Every death caused by a firearm should be recorded in a national database so we can hold the gun manufacturers accountable for the harm they cause by selling their “narrative of fear” & promoting the idea that “everyone must be armed, everywhere & at all times.” Nowadays, “people are using guns offensively, not defensively, at a hair’s provocation.” (I heard these quotes from Allison Anderman on NPR this AM.) Please make an executive order to collect more stats on guns.
I worry that the young people in Burma are succumbing to a “narrative of fear” being promoted by the junta. They are arming themselves to battle with the military. I hope they find a peaceful path to resistance. In the meantime, please do all you can to stop the flow of aviation fuel to Burma. Even better repeat the mantra, WINTA!
BYBS,
