My dear Friend, JRB,
I hope you had a joyous Easter. We had a lovely MFW with about 20 folks communing in silence seeking revelation. I hid some eggs in the yard just in case our young Friends came. They didn’t, so the over 70s were delighted to collect them. Dinner did not go as planned. Some ham travails reminded me I am not the chef I used to be. Oh well.
I just tuned into the WH event, "EGGucation." Those Easter bunnies on the balcony with you & Jill were creepy. You might reconsider including them next year.
I happened upon a story about a family from a SRO in Chinatown SF who won a lottery to attend today’s event. They’ve been living in a 100 sq. foot room for 11 years & are thrilled that a Gofund me campaign raised over $8000 for their trip to DC. I hope you get a chance to meet Xiaoping Su & her 9-year-old daughter.
Jill looked like she was in good form, despite the “self-made pickle” she got herself into last week by “proposing that the country ‘honor White losers the same as Black winners’” in what the WP’s Jada Wuan called “a perfect storm of a gaffe” for someone “who avoids controversy so assiduously that she often ventures into boring” because she was “juiced on enthusiasm from attending the NCAA women’s basketball championship.” I’m sure Jill will agree with me that the writing in the article is superior.
Thanks for calling Angel Reese & convincing her to join her LSU teammates at the WH.
Please read the WP piece “Myanmar’s Rohingya refugees brave perilous seas to flee Bangladesh camps,” which relays the harrowing attempts that women & children are making to find a new home. I hope it will convince you to welcome them in the USA.
BYBS,
RCA
PS – A flock of birds are gracing me with their presence as they delight in the petals on the crab apple flowers outside my window. I am truly blessed.
