My dear Friend & POTUS, JRB,
Has Jill pulled her trick on you yet? I am not a trickster, so I do not have any plans to fool anyone today. I doubt anyone will try to fool me, but you never know. I am gullible so it’s easy to deceive me. I try to be a good sport when it happens, but it does shake me up.
We are having a seedling/plant exchange in our neighborhood today. My offering will be some zucchini starts that I just assembled a few days ago, a more modest contribution than in the past when I had numerous tomatoes of various kinds. The 2022 crop was so disappointing that I chose not to invest my time in tending baby plants this year.
Since the weather has become crazy, it’s hard to grow crops. That’s why I feel led to urge you to champion the Agriculture Resilience Act (ARA). The leading comes from the synchronicity of my recent attention to Dana Meadows teachings about systems thinking & my reading this AM about the ARA. The Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS) promote the ARA for its emphasis on systems research that approaches farming, climate/environment, & nutrition/health equity as interconnected issues & works across disciplines to identify common solutions. The UCS encourage investment in sustainable nutrition science because the poor American diet is costing us $50 billion & our ag practices account for 21% of global emissions.
Simultaneously changing the ways we eat & farm makes sense. But habits die hard. You are just the guy to motivate the nation to make a fresh start.
Please thank Pope Francis for disavowing the ‘Doctrine of Discovery.’
Finally, take a look at the photos on Twitter of the brave souls protesting in Launglon Township, Burma. They will inspire you to keep advocating for them.
BYBS,
