My Dear Friend & POTUS, JRB,

            Thanks for keeping your eye on the price of medications. My husband takes 5 different pills – 3 for his depression & 2 for his emergent diabetes. It’s unclear to me exactly what the prescriptions cost as the health care billing remains a mystery to me. I’m not sure he needs every single pill, but he’s doing ok & I hesitate to mess with the status quo.

            That may be our problem in this country – we hang on to the status quo for far too long. I read in the CSM today “Change is always disruptive. But when we see only the disruption, we miss the opportunity for the progress & growth also inherent in change.” This was in an article about how some young folks are dealing with climate change who have developed a “new way of living with the world that is neither preindustrial poverty nor postindustrial excess, but a demonstrable & more mature understanding of responsibility, for nature and one another.” If you can employ a narrative that embraces change, perhaps people will forget your many trips around the sun.

            Let’s hope for a positive change in Burma, Gaza & Ukraine. Let’s lift up the efforts of young people to do new things & let’s welcome change, whatever that change may be.
