My daughter called me last PM to share her idea to solve the teacher shortage. PAY THEM MORE! Her high-poverty schools struggles to retain teachers. A 9th grade math position remains unfilled. A 23-year-old with an Associate’s degree is trying to teach math he doesn’t understand. Her students are feeling it.
When you talk with Shawn Fain today, please ask him to work with the teacher’s unions to bring his magic to their efforts. He amazed me with his success with the big 3! You must be thrilled by it.
I hope your visit to the iconic Jeep plant in Belvidere, IL gets plenty of attention. The NYT featured it in article this AM calling it a “celebration” & noting, “The trip, including a meeting with the head of the United Automobile Workers, offers the president a chance to shore up critical union support.”
The WP featured a different story the FBI’s investigation of your golf club membership in 2006? Is that something you are concerned about? Is there some ugly secret they have unearthed?
Speaking of which, do you have someone to tell your secrets to? Do you have someone, besides me, tending to your spiritual well-being? Do you go to confession & if so, does it soothe your soul?
My read of the news these days suggests the nation needs more attention to our spiritual well-beings. We have too many tortured souls around us. We need to get better at ministering to our neighbors.
We could do so by adopting the practice of the Mormons who each are assigned to minister to 2 others in their ward, interviewing them each quarter to see how they are doing. What do you think?
Did you notice that Operation 1027 in Burma has finally gotten the media’s attention. Even the WP reported on it noting “Myanmar rebels claim major offensive, which analysts say threatens junta.” Please continue to ponder how you can advance a peaceful conclusion to the conflict there & everywhere in the world where misguided youth follow the orders of their vengeful elders.
