My Dear Friend & POTUS, JRB,

            I just saw the headline in the G: “Secret Service agents protecting Biden’s granddaughter fire guns after car break-in.” I hope Naomi’s ok.

Are you ready for some angry protestors upon your arrival to SF? You might read signs such as, “Poor Man’s Blood, Rich Man’s Profit, No War but Class War, No to APEC” & “People + Planet over Profit + Plunder.” You might hear the chant, ““Biden, Biden, you can’t hide, you’ve taken the side of a genocide!” Just remember, those brave souls are practicing democracy by publicly voicing dissent. A gracious response from you would set a great example for folks like XJ & Marcos, Jr.

            Do you ever get the chance to read for pleasure?  Perhaps you listen to audible books. If so, what are you reading these days?

            I just finished Ministry for the Future, a fascinating attempt to think through how we could turn climate change around. I liked the various engineering ideas for carbon capture, minimizing sea rise & reflecting sun rays, but was troubled that murdering carbon “criminals” was another piece of the plan. I had to read between the lines to discern that component &wonder if others would also interpret it that way. Please read it & get back to me.

            I hope to find “Small is Beautiful” in the Yolo County library. It’ll be a good accompaniment to Dana Meadows’ Limits to Growth.

            I understand that you spoke with Jokowi about Burma. Did you come up with any new ideas?

            His comment, “Indonesia is always open to cooperate with any country, & not to take the side of any power, except to take the side of peace and humanity,” was music to my ears.
