My Dear Friend & POTUS, JRB,
What’s your plan for protecting our retirement benefits? Funding Social Security is a sticky wicket. I hope we figure things out soon, before us Baby Boomers bankrupt the system. I’m ok with means testing, even if that means I don’t get $$. I have decided that wealth accumulation is not my goal in life.
As I have told you before when I think too hard about money, where it comes from & what it means, I come down to the idea of trust. My neighbor, Kim S Robinson, writes about this in, “Ministry of the Future” where he proposes the carbon coin. You might take a look to get some hope about how to use monetary policy to incentivize climate capture.
Speaking of climate, your stretch of warm weather in DC is freaky!
How was your trick-or-treating event yesterday. I love that the theme was “Hallo-READ!” & that Jill snuck in some math by reading “Ten Spooky Pumpkins.” Why didn’t you don a costume? Since Jill was a cat, you could have been a dog.
Did you have any youth at your AI convening yesterday? I learned from my colleague, Dr. J. Higgs that they are grappling with many of the issues that you touched on. They want to use AI in their writing in ethical & responsible ways. They desire opportunities to think through issues related to AI & are worried about surveillance & bias. As digital natives who employ technology more than anyone, they are “philosophers of technology” worthy of our attention.
Have you noticed that the news about Operation 1027 is spreading around the world? Today France 24 had a piece, “Thousands feared displaced after armed groups, Myanmar junta forces clash near China border.”
As we seek to protect civilians, let’s make sure to include the civilians in Burma.
I am off to work with the 5th graders to see what kind of math expressions they can write to represent arrays. Being with them keeps me mentally sharp. More on this in upcoming letters.
BYBS,
