My Dear Friend & POTUS, JRB,      

            Did you enjoy your visit with the 2021 World Series Winners? Upset kings of October! Never be counted out! We need examples of folks like them to inspire us in these challenging times.

You notice I did not use the team’s name. I didn’t cheer for them last year because of their name & I appreciated that Karine Jean-Pierre noted the importance of having a conversation about the name. Worse than the name is the demeaning ritual they have when fans in the stadium waves their arms back & forth. I hope they do not go far in the playoffs, so I don’t have to watch that again. I’m cheering for the Cardinals. I like routing for a team named after a bird & I want to see how many more homeruns Pujols can make.

            Baseball is a soothing tonic when there is so much suffering in the world. I encourage you to read today’s article in the WP about refugees on the Thai-Burma border who are “contending with a loss of faith in their future — and a sense of being abandoned by the world.” They are facing a dire situation & some attention from your administration might be a tonic for them.

            Did you hear about the suggestion from the Financial Action Task Force to put the junta on the blacklist for $ laundering? Some folks fear doing so would only harm the people, so we should proceed with caution, but it might starve the junta & get them to stop their war against their people. Please look into it.
