My Dear Friend & POTUS, JRB,

            Any magical moments this weekend? Perhaps you will have one today when you welcome the Atlanta Braves to the WH. They might be preoccupied as they are battling the Mets for 1st place in the NL East. Be sure to say hi to short-stop, Dansby Swanson. He’s having some magical moments of his own.

            Thanks for doing what you can to hold the airlines accountable for their tricks. Please do all you can to shake up UAL, in particular. That company continues to have a toxic culture making their employees grumpy. I wish you had excluded them from recent bailouts. According to LSA they suffer from having too many rules, not enough employee discretion & misaligned performance matrices which leads to passengers being dragged off airplanes. Breaking them up would make the world a better place. I hope your mandate that airlines disclose their fees has the intended effects.

            Are you worried about Giorgia Meloni’s victory in Italy? They say she’s a fan of Mussolini. I hope her election to PM is not a sign of the times in the EU.

            News from Burma indicates that a colonel is being interrogated for ordering a weapons shipment to KNU territory. The “rebels” seized the shipment & now they have more guns, bullets, etc. While I am happy that this could mean some in the military are turning against the generals, my pacifist principles make me wish that the weapons would never be manufactured in the first place.

            Please double check on Puerto Rico. I hope you can help the folks there who are frustrated, feeling like they are not getting the services they pay for with their federal taxes. Do you think it’s time for them to become a state?

            Fingers crossed Hurricane Ian is not as damaging as Fiona. I’m sorry that it interfered with your plans to visit FL this week.
