My Dear Friend & POTUS, JRB,

            Did you notice that it is the 22nd in the 22nd year of the 2nd Millennium. That’s worth some kind of celebration, don’t you think?

            I assume that you are in no mood to celebrate, given that you have tested positive for CV. The G says that the WH is calling your diagnosis a “teachable moment.”  It’s unclear what I am supposed to learn – what NOT to do or what TO do? The WP quotes Boston University’s Julia Raifman saying, “This is an opportunity to not minimize or exaggerate the president’s infection — and to acknowledge that it is a serious illness for people who are over 70.” Is that what you’d like us to learn?

            Knock on wood, I haven’t gotten CV yet. Probably because I am an introvert, social distancing comes naturally to me & I embrace any excuse to avoid people. In addition, I stay home when I can because I am lazy. I will be teaching in August & have to decide whether to wear a mask. What do you think?

            It’s too bad that you had to cancel your trip to PA yesterday. Since your schedule is light today, please take a minute to read the BBC piece, “ ‘I can’t forget her'- Myanmar’s soldiers admit atrocities.” It will help you understand why it is essential that we continue our vigilance in sending the message to the junta that they need to return the governance of their country to the citizens. Praying for all the people of Burma would be good, too.

PS – Did you see NM’s tweet showing him bowing to Droupadi Murmu, the tribal woman who is the new President of India? Even though, she doesn’t have much power, I’m sure the children of the Santhal tribe find it encouraging to see someone who looks like them getting some positive attention!
