My Dear Friend & POTUS, JRB,
You are going to have a beautiful day to celebrate Justice Katenji Brown Jackson’s (KBJ) confirmation to become the 1st Black member of the SCOTUS. It’s exciting to see that white males will no longer be the majority there & that as the WP says, she was voted in with a “wisp of bipartisanship” after enduring the “absurdities of disrespect” that bothered Sen Cory Booker so much. The 53 – 47 vote shows a “murmur of progress” as we “lean toward the light” of equality & justice here in the USA.
According to Maisie Sparks writing in the CSM, KBJ led with love during those hearings showing “humility, empathy, inner grit, and other virtues” handling “exchanges that were demeaning with the strength of grace and the power of silence.” It’s clear that we all have a lot to learn from her.
Speaking of leading with love, I hope you will continue to work on opening our borders to refugees. Thailand is sending people back across the Moei River even though the Tatmadaw continues to bomb villages & terrorize the population in the Karen region. The AP says this is against international law, specifically the one against non-refoulement. A conversation with ASEAN might help with this.
BYBS,
