My Dear Friend & POTUS, JRB,

            Thanks for expressing your concern about the violence in Sacramento on Sun morning. It’s alarming for me because I plan to move about a mile from the place of the shooting. It’s especially disturbing because they have not caught the perpetrators.

            This shooting seems different than many of the “mass” shootings that get so much press. This was not a guy with mental health issues that left his house with the intent to kill people he didn’t know. It seems this one was about revenge from a fight involving several individuals. The most troubling part is that they had the equipment to kill 6 & injure 12.

            I hope you are successful in your efforts to ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines & repeal gun manufacturers’ immunity from liability.

I wonder what the 5th graders that I work with are thinking about this today. Sometimes they build guns out of the math cubes we use to measure volume so they are intrigued by weapons. Do you have thoughts about what we should be teaching kids in school that might address this problem of vengeful killings?

            Folks in Sacramento are afraid that visitors might avoid the city after this incident. Speaking of visitors going to dangerous places, did you hear that the Tatmadaw is opening Burma to tourists? While the beaches may be gorgeous & the temples may be impressive, I can’t imagine anyone would want to visit there for fun right now. Perhaps having visitors in the country will curb their violence since there will be more people there to witness it. Even so, please discourage citizens from going there.

            Do you think your conversations about your Trucking Action Plan get some attention today? You were not mentioned in the NYT at all. VVP had more mentions than you in the NYT & the WP. Publicity is important so I hope your next press secretary figures out a way to keep your name on the front page.
