My dear Friend & POTUS, JRB,

            It’s a beautiful day here with the crab apple trees in full bloom. I wrote almost the same thing to you exactly one year ago. Some things don’t change (much). I suspect that the date of the flowering of these trees outside my window has changed a bit over the 20 years I’ve lived in this house, just as the cherry blossom season has changed in your 40+ years in DC. Speaking of which I encourage you to put some flexibility in your calendar for 3/22 – 3/25, the dates that the NPS has forecast for the peak bloom. It would be great if you could take a walk around the monuments, celebrate the beauty of our Capitol & make some noise about CCC.

            I also encourage you to make more noise about all of the issues that you are working on because you are not getting enough media attention. You had 0 mentions in today’s NYT & the labor conversation you had yesterday was not covered by any of my media sources. The only coverage you got was from WDEL.com & all they had was a list of the attendees. You may have made a good impression on the 24 presidents of the associations & unions, but no one knows what you talked about.

            While you are making your presence felt, please encourage the American people to welcome refugees from all over the world, including families from Myanmar. I worry about the children who are living under the threat of violence, without proper nutrition & lacking health care. We risk a generation of people with stunted growth & that’s debilitating to the society for years to come.

            I hope you found solace at church yesterday so you can continue to work for peace around the globe.
