My Dear Friend & POTUS, JRB,
Did you see that the underdogs are ahead in the MLB division playoffs? We watched the Padres win their 2nd game against the Dodgers last night. The San Diego fans went wild. What fun!
I didn’t see any coverage of your activities in So Cal, yesterday, so I assume you avoided saying something provocative.
I don’t know if that’s a good thing or a bad thing. According to a recent story in the NYT your tendency to stretch the truth gets you into trouble. The story was full of evocative phrases such as “When Biden’s Folksiness Veers Into Folklore” & “Biden, Storyteller in Chief, Spins Yarns That Often Unravel.” The authors, Shear & Qui, noted that you are a “a serial exaggerator” who spins “embellished narratives, sometimes only loosely based on the facts.”
You need to watch out because your “critics have seized on (your) falsehoods to depict (you) as either a purposeful liar or a forgetful old man.” Probably best to avoid “instances of inaccuracy” so you can win independent voters.
Do you think Tina Kotek will win those independent voters over in her race for OR governor or will they vote for Independent Betsy Johnson? I hope your visit today is helpful to her.
I encourage you to invite Ingjin San to the WH to learn how to spice things up. She mixes "fashion with passion" & used her collection of designs for fashion week to protest the junta’s atrocities in Burma. Her gowns are styled after longyi, a Burmese outfit for fancy occasions, made of acheik, a traditional Burmese fabric. They are stunning! In addition to making a political statement with the garments themselves, she had her models unfurl small protest banners which said things like "Justice for Burma", "Hold Myanmar junta accountable" and "Fashion is inherently political". I love it when people find creative ways to express their concerns.
Enjoy Portland,
BYBS,
