My Friend & POTUS, JRB,

I was sorry to hear that ABdPJ put you in an awkward position by accepting questions from the press. I’m sure he meant no harm.

Your public schedule is light today which suggests that you will be busy in private sessions. I assume you are working feverishly on persuading Congress people to compromise so you can get your bills passed. I heard Progressive Caucus leader, Rep. Pramilla Jayapad (WA-7), on PBS last night insisting that the Sept. 27 deadline is arbitrary & she evoked your name by describing the bills as “the president’s agenda.” I found her persuasive. I hope that her colleagues, especially JM3 & KS, do, too. Maybe KS will read today’s AZCentral which asks if she is going to squander her chance to save democracy. They suggest she reconsider her stance on the filibuster. I hold out hope that her commitment to compromise will propel her to make one. Good luck with your efforts to unite the Dems.

On other matters, I am curious about your obsession with China. Back when DJT was elected, the press was poking fun at his advisor, Peter Navarro (PKN), for being paranoid about China. Word in the media was that the tariffs on Chinese goods were misguided & he was an outlier in his views that China was a major threat. It seems that you now agree with DJT & PKN.

I think gearing up for military conflict is totally unnecessary for a country that spends $649 billion on war in comparison to China which spends about $261 billion. Do we really want to make enemies of our foreign investors? According to the Congressional Research Service, China is the world’s largest holder of US foreign exchange reserves & had $3.2 trillion in reserves as of Nov 2020. Wouldn’t it make more sense to enhance trade with them & use soft diplomacy to help them improve rather than waste money on defense spending?

Finally, please read UN Special Rapporteur Tom Andrews report to the UN about the dire situation in Myanmar & send them some help.

            BYBS,
