My Dear Friend & POTUS, JRB,

            Climate Corps (CC) – what a fantastic idea! I am so glad that you are talking with Western governors about this. NPR suggests that it could be CCC 2.0 bringing back a federal effort that folks are proud of. Company 1696 of the CCC developed a bunch of lovely parks at the various waterfalls along the Peshtigo River in Marinette County, WI. Many of the parks have cabins that have stood the test of time. It’s too bad that they are seldom used.

I have always thought that young folks should have opportunities to expend their abundance of physical energy doing good works. I used to fantasize about having a farm school where adolescents could get their yayas out by moving dirt around. Montana already has a CC so I encourage you to follow up with Gov. Gianforte (GRG) to find out more about it.

            While you are speaking with GRG, you might give him a hard time about hiring Amanda Kaster to direct his DNRC. I am sure she has excellent people skills, but a 31-year-old does not have the experience to manage 19 forest fires. My cousin’s husband, John Tubbs (JT), used to do that job & it requires lots of coordination, especially when it comes to private, federal & state lands.  JT is well versed in the requirements of the Good Neighbor Authority enabling him to follow the proper procedures without fearing the legal ramifications. You might want to hire him to work for you.

            It’s a challenging paradox that fighting fires requires burning aviation fuel which puts more CO2 into the atmosphere, exacerbating climate change. Let’s keep doing all we can to address that threat!
