My Dear Friend & POTUS, JRB,

            Have you ever met Larry Elder (LAE)? As I’m sure you know, he’s running for governor here, in CA. His ubiquitous TV ads made me wonder who he was. I was intrigued that a man with a lot of melanin was running so I read the article about him in the G today. I was disturbed to learn that he is one of Stephen Miller’s (SM) mentors. I am not a fan of SM’s. His last effort in the DJT admin was to stymy Afghan refugee efforts. Ugh!

LAE calls himself a “contrarian” & apparently has a “talent for cathartic story telling” about his experiences growing up in South Central LA with an abusive father. Some say he’s more extreme than DJT. He’s critical of “victicrats” & his policies are “opposite what most Californians believe.”  

LAE reminds me of the folks that wrote for the Dartmouth Review in the early 1980s with a flare that got attention. They were mean spirited & appeared to revel in putting people down. One of them, Keeney Jones, was a devout Catholic who went on to study theology at the Anglican University of Rome. I could never understand how a religious guy could be so nasty.

Anyway, I hope that the news that LAE brandished a gun at his girlfriend while high on MJ will scuttle his chances to win the recall election. We don’t need a guy who uses race as a weapon & doesn’t know the first thing about running the government.

I am watching NPP as she tries to wrangle folks like Josh Gottheimer (D NJ-5) to get in line. He’s eager to pass the infrastructure bill so the Gateway project can ramp up & NJ can get its $12.3 billion slated for various projects in the state. I hope Louisa Terrell can work her magic on him & his 8 Centrist friends.

I am watching Hurricane Henri closely. It was aimed at my brother’s house in Long Island, but it seems to have changed course a bit. He lives close to the beach & a big storm surge could do some damage.
