JRB,
Less is more. Let’s both adopt that mantra. For me, that means that today my letter will be less than 1500 characters. In your case, stop going off script. I’m sure you wish you had not made that veto threat on Thursday. The NYT says you spent all day yesterday doing damage control for your “impromptu comments that upended political win” & the WP claimed you reversed yourself. LA Sen. Bill Cassidy who helped hash out the deal worries your remarks could “sour the compromise.” He’s excited about the possibility of a new bridge over the MS in Baton Rouge, so he may still be on board. Remember silence is golden.
Check out KCS’ feature article, “Black farmers fight food insecurity, gun violence in St. Louis.” It makes a case for “a self-sustaining and economically beneficial food infrastructure for residents” in the hopes of nourishing people as a tool for crime reduction. Folks like KC’s Black Farmer Jane, aka La'Trice Murray, and West Sac’s Farmer Nelson Hawkins, are growing fresh veggies to feed the neighborhood. I hope you’ll do what you can to support this movement. It’s too bad that Judge Marcia Morales Howard struck down the $4b federal loan forgiveness program for minority farmers. I hope you can find another way to support BIPOC farmers, especially those in cities.
Pray for Myanmar
BYBS,
