I just finished worshipping with the Yangon Friends group. We sat in silence for part of the time & then had fellowship for the rest of the time. We were joined today by a couple of people in Myanmar, someone in Japan, 2 folks in the UK & 5 in the USA. We looked for hope in the activities of ASEAN & continued to wonder how we can help MAH save face so he can let go of his campaign to oppress the youth of Burma. I hope you are pondering this, too.
I am sure you are pondering the speech you are giving this week. The WP says you’ve got a lot of experience listening to these speeches so you might score a homerun. I hope you do.
Today’s Sac Bee had an interesting story about Rep of the 6th District of CA, Doris Matsui. You’ll recall that she visited you at the WH last week to talk about the needs of the AAPI community. Did she mention that she was born in an internment camp & feels “duty bound to stop the spread of xenophobic & racist ideas?” She’s eager to see the Anit-hate bill passed in the House this week. I’m sure you’ll be mentioning that in your speech.
BYBS,
