MDF&P, JRB,
Got up late this AM so am in a rush. I hope you are over your cold & ready for a great week. I am raring to go, myself, even though the tule fog is a downer. My Splenda packet says to “create your own sunshine,” so that’s what I will have to do.
According to the G, you got lots of ovations at the Kennedy Awards Ceremony last night. That must feel good. I got a kick out of Bette Midler’s quote, “It was divine at the White House. Very clean. Lovely. Great staff. Food was excellent. Wine was a little sweet.” I look forward to watching the performance on Dec 22. That will be some nice publicity for you.
You need to do better in that department. Again, today you had 0 mentions in the NYT. Your 3 mentions in the WP included a story about BBB, VVP & the passing of Robert Dole. I wish we had more politicians with his “decency, humility & civility.” The KCS devoted their whole front page to him under the headline, “he made his way from the KS plains to the Congress & found great success leading his party in the Senate while seeking common ground.”
Speaking of searching for common ground, I found hope reading in the NYT that the progressive young organizers in Myanmar have a more expansive vision of democracy than ASSK. In their NUG they are engaged in collective leadership including ethnic minorities. They have begun to run underground schools & hospitals. Let’s do what we can to support these visionaries who refuse to give up hope even when the military does atrocious things such as ramming their trucks into crowds killing protestors. The NUG is committed to change & have made it clear that they have the capacity to function without the guidance of ASSK. We have some young progressives with a similar agenda in the USA. Perhaps we should pay more attention to them.
The Tatmadaw generals are up to their usual tricks – reducing ASSK’s prison sentence. Their logic is baffling to me. Let’s hold them in the Light.
BYBS,
