Merry Christmas,
We are having more rain. Hard on the mood, good for the environment. You are having a lovely day. I hope you get out & enjoy it.
The best news of the day was your visit to the Children’s Hospital where you told the kids about Commander & his antics. I hope he didn’t destroy Jill’s slipper when he chewed on it. The puppies we had in our house a few weeks ago liked to chew on my feet. Puppies must like the smell of toes.
The sad news of the day comes from Kansas City where the front page has 2 disturbing gun stories. One describing how a new state law is preventing the Highway Patrol from sharing gun info with the FBI. The writers speculate that this law enables fugitives to be freed because murder weapons can’t be traced. The other article, accompanied by a photo of a family of 10, describes the murder of a 46-year-old Airforce vet who was shot while walking his dog at midnight on Tues. It grieves me that my daughter lives in a state with the most liberal gun laws in the country.
The gun situation in MO is a reminder of Colbert I. King (CIK), message in today’s WP, where he writes that we should embrace the “promise of Christmas” & recognize that God is not finished with the world yet. He notes that Christ’s birth was a “story of overcoming a tyrant’s wrath…& the ugliness of unbridled selfishness.” CIK encourages us to attend “to work left undone — defeating the global pandemic; disinfecting rancid politics; bringing equity to the underserved, and to the ballot box…”
I hope your family’s love will fortify you to get busy with that unfinished work, tomorrow.
BYBS,
