My Dear Friend & POTUS & DR. JRB,

            Congrats on your honorary PhD! I hope you enjoy your time with Rep Jim Clyburn (JEC) & his family today when he finally gets his diploma from South Carolina State. It’s wonderful that he invited you to join him on this occasion & being at a HBU is an excellent opportunity to tout the importance of voter’s rights.

I hope you thank JEC’s wife, Emily, today. As you know JEC met her in jail. She got an honorary degree from SCS back in 2010. I just watched a video the Girl Scouts made about her where she emphasized the importance of helping “those less fortunate” by “sharing the little you have.” As you know, JEC attributed his game-changing endorsement of you to her. I’m sure he will be missing her.

            As will his daughter, Jennifer Clyburn Reed. How is she doing in her role as chair of the Crescent Regional Commission? Her dad says, “she melts you away with her smile.” He thinks she has a bright political future ahead. Folks think she’ll eventually win her dad’s seat. He doesn’t look like he’s slowing down so she might have to wait awhile.

            Speaking of daughters, I am so sorry to read about Ashley’s stolen diary. It was one of only 2 stories in the NYT today with Biden in the title. It was a ridiculously long recounting of how the diary was stolen & ended up in the hands of Project Veritas. It’s unfortunate that Ashley’s addiction treatment is being publicized in this way.

            On the topic of sketchy publicity, did you see Reuter’s story that the Tatmadaw allowed reporters to take photos of Aung San Suu Kyi while wearing her prison uniform. They noted, “it was unclear if it signaled a broader change in how she and other senior officials on trial were being treated.” Do we have some spies there to help you stay apprised of the situation? If not, it’s time to activate the CIA so you have intelligence that isn’t controlled by the generals.
