My Friend & POTUS, JRB,

            The wind has died down, finally. Now we have leaves all over the patio. I’ll sweep them up one of these days. It looks like you are in for a cloudy, dry day. I hope you get outside to enjoy it, for at least a minute or two.

            How was the virtual meeting with the other G20 leaders yesterday? Did anyone draw a parallel between what’s going on in Afghanistan & Myanmar? No cash, sharp rise in prices, children at risk of starvation, not wanting to send $$ through a “government” that will syphon it off for military purposes. The only difference between Afghanistan & Myanmar is the treatment of women. While the Tatmadaw does not respect women’s rights as much as it should, they are not as bad as the Taliban.

Thanks for choosing to participate in the meeting, even though you’d like to put Afghanistan behind you. Showing up for the team demonstrates solidarity. It’s unfortunate that XJ & VVP chose not to attend. I hope the UN finds a way to help the people in Afghanistan & Myanmar & that we will contribute to their efforts.

What did Jill have to say about her visit to KC? Did she enjoy meeting Ari Rodriguez Boog? It looks like Ari’s firm, Archifootprint, is carving out an interesting niche by including attention to the “environmental footprint” in the design of their buildings. I hope that Jill’s visit helped the Latinx community in KC to get excited about BBB.

Your calendar shows that you are signing something about the Sept 11 National Memorial Trail. I wish I had more time to find out what that’s all about. Is it a bike path? We could always use more of those.
