Friend DJT,

 We are both having beautiful weather today. I wonder if you will be able to enjoy it. My wise & eloquent friend, Tom, believes that to unite this country & get past our political divide we need to get out into nature. Let’s get outside today so the healing can begin.

Tom also suggested we work together at the local level to improve the environment. So, please put April 10, 2021 on your calendar for the 33rd Annual Potomac River Watershed Cleanup that “provides a transforming experience that engages residents and community leaders and generates momentum for change.”

It makes me smile to think about you & NPP dressed in your grubbies making good on your promise to clean up the swamp. You both could invite your fans. Everyone could mask up & then spend the day extinguishing all of their pent-up anxiety & aggression by using their excess energy to clean up trash.

In the meantime, I hope you will find a way to help your fans to understand that the thing at the Capitol was a giant mistake, that you regret your role in instigating their “costume drama of militant ignorance.” The references to the Civil War, especially the Confederate Flag in the Rotunda, were a chilling reminder of Faulkner’s observation that “the past in never dead. It’s not even past.”

Those quotes were from Sidney Blumenthal’s opinion piece in the Guardian today who used his deep knowledge of Lincoln’s era to put Jan 6 in a historical perspective that you might find edifying.

If you’d rather talk than read, please call Sen Tim Scott so he can help you understand the effects that the ambush has had on BIPOC folk. As long as you are speaking with Senators named Scott, you might as well call your own FL Senator so he can talk you into going to the inauguration. The Secret Service will be running the security detail for the whole event so the safety of everyone should be insured. Being part of a peaceful transfer of power might improve your place in history – at least a little.
