My Dear Friend & POTUS, JRB,
Happy Saturday! Are you settling into the WH? I hear that you exchanged Andrew Jackson’s portrait for one of Ben Franklin. Excellent choice. Don’t you love the 13 virtues which he endeavored to practice every day? Temperance, silence, order, … It’s impressive that a 20-year-old espoused such lofty goals for himself. I think you are doing very well on all 13 so far, especially the resolution one, which as you will recall entails, “. Resolve to perform what you ought; perform without fail what you resolve.”
It’s clear that so far in your time in office you have fully embraced the “industry” virtue which involves, “Lose no time; be always employ'd in something useful; cut off all unnecessary actions.” I am impressed with your 30 Executive Orders & haven’t had a chance to look into all of them. I do know that they involve climate change & immigration among other things & am grateful for your attention to these matters.
Thanks for taking the time to Tweet about Hank Aaron’s passing. My grandmother followed baseball & was a Milwaukee Braves fan. I have an official scorecard from the Braves’ 1956 season full of signatures including Hammerin’ Hank’s, but I suspect that a friend of hers may have forged them all. Anyway, I hope she welcomed him warmly at the Pearly Gates.
Please thank Jill for her efforts to reach out to the National Guard. I’m sure they appreciated the cookies that she brought to them. I hope it took the sting out of their having been sent out of the Capitol to the cold hard floor of the parking garage.
I know she is busy, but I’d appreciate it if Jill could take a look my 2500+ letters to your predecessor & give me her opinion on whether they could be turned into a book. She can find them at letterstodjt.com.
BYBS,
RCA
