            Yesterday I was on fire. Today CA is on fire. We’ve got 30 “incidents.” The fire alarms in the house went off so we had to take the batteries out. One of my students just alerted me that she may miss class because parts of her town are being evacuated. Worst of all, our lovely Quaker camp & retreat in Grass Valley is in the middle of the Jones Fire. We’ve lost 2 structures so far. My heart is breaking for my Friends who have put their hearts & souls into creating a haven in the woods for young people. Please express your concerns for us. It would help to know that you are sympathetic to our plight.

            I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw that you said, “Women dominate the United States. I think we can say that very strongly.” I’m not sure what to make of that statement. Does that mean you are afraid of women? Does that mean you are in awe of women? Or were you just saying that to make the folks in the room happy?

            It’s too bad that the country is in such a state right now that the anniversary of the 19th amendment was barely a blip on the radar. I was anticipating that it would be a huge deal, but instead you pardoned Susan B. Anthony (SBA), & that was about it. By the way, some folks think that SBA was proud of her brush with the law & wouldn’t accept a pardon because she didn’t accept the charge. She did not consider voting a crime.

            I wish you weren’t making it so hard for people to vote this year. We have enough to contend with, we don’t need to waste our time fighting with our President about mail boxes and the like. Isn’t it great that we have checks & balances in place & Stacy Abrahms has her Fair Fight organization trying to insure that people can exercise their franchise? Voter suppression is unbecoming to a President, so please consider a different strategy for your reelection campaign.

            I hope your visit to Cedar Rapids yesterday brought some solace to the folks there.
