My dear Friend & POTUS, DJT,
Did you read in the WSJ that the Billy Jean King (BJK) National Tennis Center is turning into a 350-bed hospital? As you well know, Elmhurst Hospital is nearby, & the plan is to take the non-Covid-19 cases to BJK’s place. Century-Link Field in Seattle is getting set up so 300 members of the 627th Hospital Center from Colorado’s Fort Carson
can treat 148 patients & in West Palm Beach the spring training facility for the Astros & the Nationals is a drive-through testing site. Making use of these facilities shows such creativity & flexibility, it’s uplifting, isn’t it?
Other uplifting human innovation in today’s news were a story in the NYT about Kinsa Health which has high tech thermometers that show geographic trends in fevers & a story in the LAT about “Westside Friends”, an effort that uses the internet to connect neighbors so they can help each other. We’re doing that in my neighborhood & yesterday, I got a grocery delivery organized by the guy next door. Very comforting!
I was really sorry to hear that you went ahead with changing the gas mileage requirements of new cars. At a time when we’re battling a respiratory disease, do you really want to be adding more pollution to the air? I encourage you to reconsider that plan. The air is probably cleaner right now than it’s been in a long time. Folks are driving so little that their batteries are going dead which reminds me that I need to start up my car and take it for a spin.
When was the last time you went for a spin? I went for a bike ride yesterday. I highly recommend it. I’ll bet there are still some cherry blossoms in DC & cycling around the Mall would do you a world of good.
HYITL,
RCA
