            Wouldn’t it be nice if CV understood the Christian calendar and would shut itself off when Lent ends? Then those of us who observe Lent could really rejoice! Our time for discipline and self-sacrifice would be over and we could celebrate life. Unfortunately, CV is not “alive,” that’s why it’s so hard to kill. It’s just a packet of RNA. It doesn’t have a brain. It doesn’t even have the capacity to reproduce without a host cell. Just because we want it to disappear in time for Easter doesn’t mean it will.

Maybe Spain’s Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez can help you understand the folly of making light of CV. He made the mistake of letting 120,000 women convene to celebrate International Women’s Day on March 8 and now 2 weeks later his death toll has surpassed China’s. He’s had to cancel Semana Santa, which is even bigger than canceling Christmas would be in the USA.

Let’s just focus on the March miracle, that the Senate passed a stimulus bill. As you consider signing it, just remember, Boeing rhymes with owing and we don’t want Boeing owing us. They had plenty of financial difficulties before CV. David Calhoun says he has other options so let him pursue those. We can go ahead and loan some of Boeing’s 17,000 suppliers some $$, but the big B should go it alone.
