My Dear Friend & POTUS , DJT,
“We are still waiting for 4 students to join us.” My heart is singing as I hear my daughter cheering on her 7th grade math students to participate in a “quiz” on Zoom. She’s perfected the art of narrating activity which teachers have to do these days. We read the chat stream after inviting comments. We talk through what we’re doing as we share our screens. We babble about random things as the class returns from their breakout rooms. Zoom is like the radio. Dead air is to be avoided.
In reading the transcript of your remarks at the Operation Warp Speed Vaccine Summit yesterday, it seems that you might have been filling dead air. I’m afraid that you rambled as you showcased the “miracle” of vaccine development. Unfortunately, you got carried away when you started talking about the election & began to sound delusional.
Lest you accuse me of exaggerating, I am going to relay WebMed’s definition of delusion, “unshakeable beliefs in something that isn’t true.” People can be delusional & otherwise functional. Among the various kinds of delusions are grandiose, an overinflated sense of power, & persecutory, the belief that one is being mistreated, which may include making repeated complaints to legal authorities. I’m afraid those descriptions fit you regarding the election results. I hope the Supreme Court’s denial of your “application for injunctive relief” will help you come to your senses.
In the meantime, I hope you will commit to taking a CV shot. You might want to wait for the Moderna version since a few folks have had severe allergic reactions to Pfizer’s. We need you to “instill vaccine confidence” so your fans will roll up their sleeves. We need herd immunity & you can help make that happen.
I hope you will also do what you can to make the stimulus bill happen. I don’t need a stimulus check, but I’d love to see my unemployed neighbors getting some help.
HYITL,
