My dear Friend and President, DJT,
So much excitement these days, it's hard to keep up. You've been meeting with rulers from all of the world at the UNGA and I've been meeting with math educators from all over the state at the CP. You're worried about nuclear weapons in NK and Iran. I am worried about equity and access for ELLs. You are trying to figure out what to do about the world-wide refugee crisis and I am trying to figure out how to help teachers foster growth-mindsets. You are disputing climate change and I am disputing a memorization approach to arithmetic instruction. And then there's the phone call problems. You made one you shouldn't have and I am avoiding making one that I should. We've both got full plates and I will hold us both in the Light.
I have my first class with my EDU 100 students this morning. It's an honors section, so, in addition to exploring the question, "what is the role of schooling in a democracy?" we will also be exploring the question, "in what ways does having an honors section at an elite university enhance democracy?" I grappled with a similar question when I was in an honor society in college. The exclusivity bothered me, but I participated any way. I'm still pondering that decision.
Speaking of exclusive, what's up with the Cipriani joint where you'll holding your fundraiser lunch today? I Googled Cirpiani. They've got restaurants in Venice, Dubai, Monte Carlo, Hong Kong and one about to open in Moscow. Do they all have elaborate chandeliers, gold leaf and ornate ceilings like the one on 42nd St? I am afraid it looks like the kind of place that the Gambinos might have hung out at. I'm not sure that's the best image for you right now.
My husband says you looked haggard in the press conference yesterday. Perhaps you should cloister yourself for a couple of days and regain your equilibrium.
Take it easy,
RCA
