My Dear Friend and President, DJT,

I'm a bit confused about the "Salute to the Heroes of ICE" event that you are hosting at the WH today. When I heard the title, I imagined that you were honoring some frontline folk who risked their lives to protect the border. Maybe someone who got into a gun fight with a gang. Does that even happen? My sense is that most of the action in ICE involves apprehending unarmed individuals who are in a desperate situation by chasing them down. Do ICE agents have to pass a sprint test to get on the force?

When I looked into it I found that the "heroes" are sheriffs, including Thomas Hodgson. It is not clear that he is "liberating his community from savage gangs" as you claimed. The most recent gang activity I could find in Bristol County involved the "Asian Boyz" and the article didn't mention anything about immigrants. Sheriff Hodgson has gotten media attention for illegally imprisoning an immigrant for 3 weeks and a lawsuit against his office for the high rate of jail suicides. He doesn't sound like much of a hero to me.

My heroes today are all the women running in elections. I'm excited about Hiral Tipineni's run for the AZ 8th District seat in the Northwest Phoenix suburbs. Isn't it exciting that an Indian immigrant is running in a super conservative district? She's big on health care issues since she's an emergency room physician, had a childhood illness and lost her mom and nephew to cancer. She did really well in the April Special Election so she's trying again. Don't worry, she says she's not into partisan bickering so I don't think she's going to waste her time criticizing you.

Be a hero today!
