Have you heard of the Trump Slump? That's the cute name that the travel industry has adopted to explain why the US has not kept its share of the international travel market since you came to office. Apparently, we used to have 12.9% of the market and now we have 11.7% and that's cost us 100,000 jobs. You'll be hearing all about that this afternoon when Roger Dow and his buddies from the Travel Association come to visit. I'm especially concerned about the 4% drop in international students. According to the CSM, these statistics may not be accurate because the I-94 data got screwed up. NYC and FLA are seeing record high numbers of visitors and US room demand is higher than ever so I'm not sure you need to worry about Trump Slump. I posit that travelers know that the USA is full of warm and friendly people so even though the President may be wary of foreigners, the majority of us aren't. I hope your meeting goes well.
I see you are steering clear of the Kavenaugh confirmation hearings. I think that's prudent. I was surprised to see that a "feminist lawyer," Lisa Blatt, will be introducing Brett to the Senate Judiciary Committee this morning. She's impressive! Winning 32 of the 35 cases she's argued in front of SCOTUS! Slate points out that she's a "Big $$" lawyer, in addition to her liberal Pro Bono work, and her firm will benefit from having a pro-business justice on the court. Lisa claims that Brett is "the most qualified conservative for the job." I hope so!
