My Dear Friend and President, DJT,
I'm feeling melancholy with all of this news about John McCain's passing. Have you called Cindy McCain to express your condolences? Even though John may have given you a tough time, I encourage you to acknowledge his service to our country. The NYT called him a "maverick" today, and being somewhat of a maverick yourself, I'm sure you can appreciate his commitments. I was inspired by the images of him in Congress in late 2017 when he had stitches over his eyebrow and bruises on his cheek from his brain surgery and he didn't let that stop him from fighting for what he thought was right.
I'm sure you saw Sarah Palen's tweet where she noted John's "sacrifice and suffering to serve something greater than self."
I really didn't pay much attention to McCain until recently so I can't say I have been a fan for long. He won me over when I heard about a moment in Oct, 2008 in Lakeville, MN, when a woman noted that she couldn't trust Obama because he was an Arab. John called him a "decent family man" and refused to talk trash about him. According to The Hill the video of that moment has gone viral today. I can't remember seeing you do something like that, but maybe I missed it.
John's life reminds us to make the most of each day.
Let's go do that.
