It's transition time around here. We just finished up summer session and will start fall quarter on Monday. Time for a reboot - clean off the desk, complete those random projects so we can dig into some substantive work.
Campus is always exciting in late Sept. Freshmen wander around campus trying to look cool. New riders weave in and out of the bike traffic, occasionally losing their balance and colliding with others. Hormones run high as 20-year olds hunt for new mates. The anticipation of starting new classes with the rush of novel ideas and cutting-edge methods captivates the students and invigorates their instructors. You should come visit.
I hope you enjoy your rally in Las Vegas today. Danny Tarkanian will need all of the help he can get in his attempt to unseat Susie Lee for the NV-03 Congressional seat. He might have been a winning basketball player back in the day when he was playing for his towel-sucking dad, Jerry at UNLV, but, as you know, he has yet to win an election despite trying 6 or 7 times. He's got a checkered past having some sketchy financial dealings. Is that why you persuaded him to switch from running for Senate to running for Congress? You might want to advise him to stop hassling Susie about being wealthy.
The counter-rally in LV today should be interesting. Various groups opposed to the appointment of Kavanaugh will be assembled. I think they want to make an impression on Senator Dean Heller. It'll be interesting to see if they do.
