My Dear Friend and President, DJT,
Sorry I missed our correspondence yesterday. I was traveling to Orange County to meet up with a group of teacher educators to talk about how to better prepare teacher to work with multilingual students. We are a "NIC" (Network Improvement Community) and that is our "Problem of Practice." We have about 50 folks assembled from across the UC System. Most of our teaching candidates are monolingual suburban White folk who have a hard time imagining what it's like to have trouble understanding the teacher. Our job is to equip them to communicate effectively with ALL of their students. Tricky business.
Speaking of tricky business - what are you up to today? You don't have any appointments scheduled and you didn't have any yesterday either. I hope everything is ok. Maybe you are having second thoughts about the tariffs and are hatching a plan to eliminate them. The RV makers in Elkhart Indiana would be happy to hear that. According to today's NYT, RV shipments in June were down 18.7% and some manufacturers have cut back to a 4-day work week. Some folk in Elkhart are worried this is the beginning of a downturn. I hope not.
Please stop bothering the poor folk of Puerto Rico! They have suffered enough and your commentary is not helping anyone. According to Yarimar Bonilla in today's WP, our colonial policies in PR have distorted the economy there and the island suffers from "imperial neglect." She thinks that your administration is no different from previous ones, it's just that you are more blatant about it. Try to remember the old adage, "if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all!"
Have to head out to the NIC,
Best,
RCA
