My dear Friend and President, DJT,
So, you're heading over to Walter Reed for a quick visit to the Wounded Warriors & then back to the WH in time to host the Young Black Leadership Summit. Those ceremonial duties should be a welcome distraction from the impeachment inquiry. I wonder how many Americans really understand what's going on with that. Perhaps I can get the assessment expert at UCD to design a test so we can find out. I'm not sure that I'd pass.
Will Jake Rice-Cameron (JDRC) be at the Summit this afternoon? Have you heard of JDRC? He's a big fan of yours which is surprising because his mom worked for Barak. She just came out with a book and had an interesting opinion piece in the NYT today where she talks a lot about her dad. As an African-American she's found it tricky to navigate issues of race and has embraced the idea that, "You don’t have to prove anything to anyone but yourself. Never doubt that you are more than good enough." It seems that JDRC has embraced this, too, and has latched on to the fundamental principle of the "primacy of the individual over that of the collective." He wrote about that in the Stanford Review a couple of years ago. I hope he has not adopted the tactics of the Dartmouth Review crew who relished "liberal outrage and acting as a victim of the intolerant left." He's a smart kid and may have some sage advice for you.
Have you heard that his mom has considered running for Senator in Maine? Many Mainers have lost faith in Susan Collins after her vote for Justice Kavanaugh. They feel that she betrayed them in an effort to stay in your good graces. It's too bad that she was placed in the awkward position of having to decide how to vote on his nomination as she might be "one of the last leaders in Washington standing on a centrist island between the two parties (today's CSM)." It'll be interesting to see what happens in Vacationland in the next year.
Have a good day,
